130+ Bears took over the pool at Ed Lugo Resort last night for our July Night Pool Party, and it was exactly the kind of night we love throwing. Warm water, good company, and a whole lot of Bears floating around under the stars. This one ran smooth from start to finish, and that comes down to our volunteers. Everyone who kept things moving, and made sure the night stayed easy for the rest of us, thank you. These events do not happen without you. We also loved seeing so many new faces out there. If this was your first event with us, welcome. You are one of us now, and we hope this is the first of many. The Bears of South Florida set sail for the 4th of July Sunset Tea Dance Cruise aboard The Musette, and about 400 Bears and friends joined us for the trip. We boarded at Bokampers at 6:45pm and cruised up and down the Intracoastal all evening. Velvet LeNore brought the house down with a drag show at 8pm, and once that wrapped everyone headed up to the decks to catch fireworks shows lighting up the water from multiple points along the Intracoastal. It's a view you really can't get anywhere else. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night what it was. Last night, The Bears of South Florida gathered at ArtsUnited, Inc for the opening reception of Provocative #1: Vent or Bent. A great turnout came out to support the exhibition, and the artwork on display gave everyone plenty to talk about. ArtsUnited is one of our Grizzly Giving grant recipients, so it meant a lot to help celebrate their opening. Longtime member and volunteer Michael Macocco has a piece featured in the exhibition, and it was wonderful to see so many Bears there cheering him on and taking in his work. Good art, good company, and a reminder of why we love supporting local artists in our community. ArtsUnited is one of BOSFL's valued Grizzly Giving grant recipients, and we'd love to see our Bear family come out to support this incredible organization and the talented artists featured in the exhibition. We're especially excited to celebrate Michael Macocco, one of our longtime BOSFL members and volunteers, whose powerful piece, "Red, White & Blue: The Emergency Whistle," will be on display.
