The Bears of South Florida Health & Wellness Committee empowers members to pursue healthier, more fulfilling lives by promoting physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being in a welcoming, body-positive community built on friendship, inclusion, and mutual support.

What We Stand For

Our Goals

  • Promote Whole-Person Wellness by encouraging physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.

  • Foster a Body-Positive, Inclusive Community where every member feels welcomed, respected, and valued regardless of age, body type, fitness level, race, ethnicity, or ability.

  • Encourage Healthy Lifestyle Choices through education, peer support, and enjoyable activities that promote sustainable habits rather than judgment or unrealistic expectations.

  • Build Meaningful Friendships by creating opportunities for connection, shared experiences, and mutual support that reduce isolation and strengthen community.

  • Make Wellness Enjoyable by offering a variety of activities—from walks and kayaking to cooking classes, game nights, and other social events—that welcome all fitness levels.

  • Increase Health Awareness and Prevention through education on nutrition, sleep, sexual health, mental health, healthy aging, chronic disease prevention, and the importance of routine screenings, vaccinations, and regular healthcare.

  • Celebrate Progress Over Perfection by encouraging achievable goals, recognizing personal accomplishments, and creating a safe, stigma-free environment where everyone can thrive.
